In this Stamps.com review, we look closely at software features, pricing, shipping features, integrations, and customer support.

We also provide a few alternatives, in case Stamps.com isn’t the right fit for your business.

What is Stamps.com?

Stamps.com is an online platform that allows you to print off shipping labels for letters, packages, and everything in between.

Stamps.com Review

This is the same postage other post office customers could get at a discount with a monthly service fee and printer while saving you a trip to the post office.

If you’re selling items online, Stamps.com integrates with a large variety of online stores like Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and Shopify among others. You’ll be able to import your orders and easily print shipping labels for your orders in one dashboard.

Pros and Cons

Stamps.com Pros
  • Easy to Use: The online registration process takes just a few minutes and gives you $5 worth of stamps to use to test the service with your four week trial. It’s first class postage that you can use to mail envelopes, but you can also print labels for packages.
  • Affordable: Compared to other platforms that charge based on shipment volume, this is an easy and cost-effective way to manage your shipments. Plus, you’ll get access to discounts you wouldn’t be able to capture directly from the local post office.
  • Integrates with most platforms: You can connect your account to your ecommerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and third-party channels like Amazon and Walmart to automatically import your order information into the Stamps.com software for easier postage printing.
  • Free End of Day Pickup: You can automatically schedule free end of day pickup for all of your parcels
Stamps. Cons
  • Limited carriers: At this time, Stamps.com only lets you choose between USPS and UPS. You can get cheaper shipping rates than dealing with either carrier directly. Other shipping platforms integrate with additional carriers to get the best rate for each package, regardless of carrier. Others include FedEx and DHL, along with a wide selection of international shipping carriers like Royal Post.
  • May be difficult to cancel: Customer reviews report that Stamps.com is somewhat difficult to cancel if you decide not to use it. While there is an option to cancel your account from within your dashboard, you need to do it at the right point in your billing cycle, or you may get another monthly charge. If the cancelation option doesn’t work in your account, you must call the customer service phone number.
  • Complaints of unreliable refunds: Stamps.com says you can submit postage refund requests within 60 days of a printed order, but several customer reviews state that they were unable to get refunds processed reasonably. Many report being charged for their membership even after asking the company to cancel it.

Stamps.com Pricing

Packages can be shipped via USPS and UPS when shipping with Stamps.com so you’re able to choose the option that best fits your needs and budget. You’ll be able to ship without visiting your UPS store or post office.

Printing Labels On Stamps.com

From within the Stamps.com software, select the packages tool. Then enter the address information, verifying your return address and the sender’s address. You can add it from your address book or manually add it.

Then, choose the appropriate mail piece, choose what you’re printing on, and your printing options.

You can choose to preview the label to see what it will look like before you print it. When you’re ready, click “Print Postage.”

Tracking Packages with Stamps.com

There are couple of different ways to do this:

You can view the tracking status of any package with the Stamps.com ShipStatus page at stamps.com/shipstatus/. Enter the tracking number without dashes or spaces, then click “Check Status.” From there, you can see the scan history and status information.

Alternatively, you can login to your Stamps.com account. Click on the Search tab, then the Status link. From there, you’ll get a list of all the tracking numbers you’ve generated from within your account. Click the tracking number for the package you want more information about to find out where it is or when it was delivered.

You can print or email the tracking information, if desired.

Label Design Options

Stamps.com allows you to add graphics to your envelopes and shipping labels. You can add your own graphic by uploading it into your dashboard. Or use a pre-existing graphic file from the Stamps.com library.

This is a great way to further your branding. Upload your logo and use it on all your labels.

ShippingEasy

ShippingEasy

ShippingEasy is another platform that lets you capture deep shipping discounts with the USPS. In addition, they offer discounted UPS rates, and shipping automation. You can ship up to 25 shipments per month for free, and between 26 to 200 shipments for just $19.99/month.

There’s a free trial so you can see how the entire system works before committing to payment. ShippingEasy integrates with major selling channels, including Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Wish, and Etsy.

Easyship

Easyship

Easyship is a similar platform that offers both pay-as-you-go and subscription-based pricing. It includes automation tools that help boost processing speeds.

It’s a great option for ecommerce businesses with a lot of international orders since it auto-generates tax and customs documents.

ShipEngine

ShipEngine Review: ShipEngine Homepage

ShipEngine is a shipping platform with usage-based pricing. The higher your shipping volume, the more you can save. You’ll pay pennies for each label generation, tracking, address validation, and so on. You can even use the platform for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping, which is not something you see with any others in the space.

You can use the shipping cost calculator on the website to estimate your monthly shipping costs based on your shipment volume. For instance, on the Startup shipping plan, sending 250 shipments will cost you $12.50 a month. You’re free to choose the shipping carrier that makes the most sense for each package.

ShipStation

Shipstation

ShipStation is a similar tool that allows you to print shipping labels for your packages. You have access to a wider variety of carriers, and a mobile app with ShipStation. Both tools allow you to import orders from your connected sales channels and to capture carrier discounts. While ShipStation has package limits on their plans, they are affordably priced, with plans starting at $9.99/month for up to 50 shipments.
